Our Proposal for the Club's long awaited return to Cathkin Park has now been submitted to the current owners Glasgow City Council. Along with this 300 page document we handed in the first draft of the Online Petition which amounted to 3500 signatures when added to those already on paper. Many thanks to STV News, Scotland On Sunday, The Daily Record, The Evening Times, The Glasgow Herald,The Southside Extra,The Scotsman, BBC Radio Scotland's 'Off The Ball' and 'Beyond The SPL', The Courier,The Metro and The Sunday Mail for the wonderful blanket coverage they all gave us...much,much appreciated by all of us at Third Lanark Athletic Club. And thanks to the Chairmen of all the senior football clubs for the letters of support and for all of you who were kind enough to sign the Petition thus far. The online petition will continue as we seek to prove just how much public support we have behind our plans to move to Cathkin Park again. We have exciting times ahead in the upcoming months, so watch this space !

Blue Monday 2..!!!!!

Returning to the ground on Sunday this was what greeted me...more vandalism and this time they really went to town ! Thanks to the Gorbals Young Team for this unwanted 'artwork'. Still, won't put us off and despite hundreds of pounds worth of paintwork damaged we have already begun painting over it all. Here's a few photos of the latest idiocy at Cathkin.

April Latest...

A quick snapshot of the progress of our restoration work in April.

March Photos - 2011

Belated shots of the park in mid March when the snow appeared again ! We still soldiered on though and got another 30 hours of work done in that period, clearing rubbish and undergrowth from the stadium and doing what stonework we could, despite the freezing conditions. Here's a wee selection of the work from March - April 2011.

THIRD LANARK FUNDRAISER NIGHT

Vice Chairman Pat McGeady has organized a wonderful fundraising evening for the Club on the 9th April 2011 at Lesser Hampden ! This promises to be a great occasion and will be the chance to meet a full team of former players, bid for fantastic memorabilia in our auction, see the old team in action on screen and to contribute to the resurgence of 3rd Lanark and the building of the Youth System for season 2011/2012.
We have 100 tickets available, priced £20 each. Tickets are now available from Pat McGeady on 0141 427 9317 and from Matt Curry on 0141 632 3821. Grab them now as there are surprise guests and speakers, in what will be a fitting tribute to 3rd Lanark Football Club. This evening will herald the relaunch of the Official Supporters Association and we hope that this will be the first in a long line of Tribute Nights to the Club and the old Ground, so book your place now and wallow in an unashamed night of football nostalgia...oh, and there's a buffet ! March 2011...Latest

Thanks to Michele Palilla for his sterling work this week again. Both he and Pat McGeady have cleared large sections of the moss from the West Terrace which is looking a lot better nowadays. More of the terracing and steps have been painted this week as well as another 30 feet of pitch wall. As you can see we are at long last into the final third of the 'Wall Phase.' Becoming a bit like the never-ending painting of the Forth Road Bridge this one, but looking great now and the finishing line is within sight. We have some exciting events coming up in March and April 2011 and will be launching our new Official Club Website and Supporters Association soon. Thanks to everyone who has supported Third Lanark already by signing our Petition to return to Cathkin Park. I'm delighted to report that it has over 3000 signatures now and still rising. A big hello and thanks to our friends from Leicester City FC, Chelsea FC and Nottingham Forrest FC who we met at Cathkin last week. This ground has a magic appeal that draws REAL football fans from across the world to it. Hopefully the work we are doing now will help insure it's long term future as one of the last examples of a perfect Victorian multi-sports stadium.

Latest Photos...

Here's the latest work from last weekend! Tough weather conditions but we got a fair bit done! Painted another 30 feet of pitch wall and cleared a further 20 feet of moss. Another 3 steps and terrace stepping painted and another 10 foot square area scraped clear of all growth and litter. Still a long way to go and this is by far the worst job so far ! But when this section is complete (by the end of May 2011) it will really stand out to reveal the potential that this old football arena still has. More to come !
